well if you want to get into politics and shit an embryo is not an american… you have to be born in america for that to happen. so it does not have the rights of an american therefore it doesnt matter where life begins. its not an american yet so who gives a damn.. he dont care about your opinion tprice108 so shut the fuck up!!!

You have a slight lisp. fix it.

  13. ThomasJS1 25. Jul, 2010 at 4:53 pm #

That’s just one book though, there are others that state something to the effect of, the life of a new human being starts. If you want I can find that one when I have some spare time.

Though I think it’s not necessary. They are human beings that’s an undeniable fact.
    Are they alive?
Well if they were dead the woman would have a miscarriage now wouldn’t she? If they were dead they would not continue to develop and grow without interference. Yet they do.
    It’s just common sense.

    wtf!!!!!!!

  15. tprice108 25. Jul, 2010 at 6:16 pm #

    ok djsauble.

below, that is not a fact from the book but merely a quote. That is the basis for the controversy: nobody knows exactly where life begins thus the arguement. “human development” is in my opinion another way of saying ‘life’….just my opinion.

  16. ThomasJS1 25. Jul, 2010 at 7:14 pm #

Very well said. I have only one thing to correct, human embryos are not arguabley the foundation or start of life, they are in fact the start or foundation of human life.

Just one word. I presume you are also against abortion. If so I suggest reading a little of Essential of Human Embryology.

A fact, quoted from that book:
“Human development begins after the union of male and female gametes or germ cells during a process known as fertilization (conception).”

  17. djsauble 25. Jul, 2010 at 7:34 pm #

To clarify, I believe that every human life is equally valuable, but in an infinite sense, not a discrete sense. I can no more say that 10 human lives is more valuable than a single human life than I can say that ten times infinity is greater than infinity.

  18. tprice108 25. Jul, 2010 at 8:26 pm #

Unfortunately, this was an either-or decision. We have to make these decisions from time to time in our life (ie. you’re a vegetarian OR not; you’re a Christian OR not) and there are no in-betweens.

If the child was in a back room trapped and if the tray of embryo’s was in another room in a fire this would be plausible.

With your reasoning, if the “value of human life is the same regardless of age” then you would save the embryos b/c there are 10 of them.
    Just trying to understand you.

  19. djsauble 25. Jul, 2010 at 9:15 pm #

I believe that the value of human life is the same regardless of age or development. Thus, this question is impossible for me to answer.

Put another way, if a fire broke out in a high-rise apartment, and I could save the life of a 3-year old or an 80-year old, which would I choose? Frankly, the only morally correct action would be to try and save both. There is no alternative.

  20. tprice108 25. Jul, 2010 at 9:25 pm #

djsauble question to you: “The embryo is a human” (your quote)

Hypothetical situation: suppose a fire were to break out at a fertility clinic and you had the chance to save a 3 year old child or a tray of 10 embryos; who would you save?

  21. israelidevil 25. Jul, 2010 at 9:31 pm #

screw ethics if it cures something then we should use embryotic stem cells

  22. joshuaRizoPatron 25. Jul, 2010 at 9:56 pm #

I got cancer, THANK YOU STEM CELLS!!!!

  23. maplestoryhaterx 25. Jul, 2010 at 10:35 pm #

However a downside to adult stem cells is that it actually has a limited amount of repairs it may heal. This happens due to how adult cells have only been found in tissues and few are in these. These tissues are called the “stem cell niche”. This has an limited amount however, scientists are still finding how they may farm and grow more adult stem cells

  24. EmilHN 25. Jul, 2010 at 10:57 pm #

We will probably soon be able to make somatic (or adult) stem cells into pluripotens stem cells. Those cells under the right conditions will have the ability to become a human, just as embryonic stem cells do. So every cell in your body is actually a potential human being, just like an embryonic stem cell. So what is the difference between destroying an empryonic stem cell and a somatic cell? Whenever you scrath yourself its a genocide if you follow this guys logic.
